Solar street light system in Bong Lai Village highly praised for efficiency after 1 year of operation

In August 2022, DAT Group sponsored and handed over a solar street lighting system to the local government and residents of Bong Lai village, Duc Trong district, Lam Dong province. After nearly one year of official operation, DAT Group conducted a survey and quick interviews with the villagers about the system’s performance, receiving very positive feedback.

The solar street light system stretches over a 1.8km road leading to clusters 1 and 2 in Bong Lai village, Hiep Thanh commune, Duc Trong district. It consists of 51 solar streetlights from Sokoyo, including Solo 15W, Teco 20W, and Conco 80W models. The system was deployed and installed in July 2022 and officially handed over to the local government in August 2022.

As of July 2023, after almost a year of operation, the project continues to receive many compliments and positive evaluations from the villagers regarding its effectiveness, safety, and electricity savings.

Mr. Van Duc Hoang, a vegetable garden owner in Bong Lai village, commented: “I, like everyone else in the village, was very surprised to see how the system operates 100% using solar energy without the need for electricity, and the lights are still bright. Up to now, the lighting system is still bright and operates normally according to the preset schedule. Everyone is happy to see our Bong Lai village equipped with such modern lighting. The road looks brighter and more beautiful.”

Ms. Thi Huong Tran, a market vendor in Bong Lai village, said: “Previously, the road to clusters 1 and 2 was very dark because there were no lights. Now it’s much brighter. Since the solar lighting system was installed here, we feel more secure when traveling on the road at night, and traffic is safer with sufficient light. When coming back late from the market or carrying bulky goods, I find it easier to observe the road in sharp turns. Additionally, the solar lighting system looks beautiful, modern, and does not require electrical wiring for operation, making it convenient and easy to install. By the end of this year, my family also plans to install four solar lights at the back of the vegetable garden and in front of the house for use.”

The solar light project in Bong Lai continues to achieve stable performance and good brightness

The solar street lighting project in Bong Lai operates fully automatically, without the need for grid connection, eliminating the risk of electric shock, fire, and avoiding the cost of wiring, road excavation, and maintenance. To ensure high economic efficiency, stable operation, and compliance with brightness criteria and the standards of the Ministry of Construction, DAT Group uses Sokoyo solar lights, known for their “Quality Standard”, certified with CE, RoHS, IEC, ISO, etc., successfully applied in many rural and urban lighting projects in Vietnam. It is expected that each year, the system will save 100% of the electricity used, equivalent to 17.520 kWh, reduce emissions by more than 14.088 kg of CO₂, and contribute to building a bright, green, clean, beautiful, and safe rural landscape, actively participating in the effective implementation of the new rural construction criteria, reducing the load on the national power grid.
